Amver participating Celebrity cruise ship rescues migrants

The Amver participating cruise ship Celebrity Reflection notified U.S. Coast Guard authorities their crew rescued ten Cuban migrants from a sinking rustic vessel 26 miles southeast of Lower Matecumbe Key, Fla. on Sunday, March 1, 2015.

Crew members from the cruise ship reported "... a vessel with people flashing a light...". The crew of the Malta flagged cruise ship launched a rescue boat and embarked the migrants as their boat was breaking apart. The migrants were brought aboard the cruise ship and given a medical examination.

The Coast Guard Cutter Charles David Jr. rendezvoused with the Celebrity Reflection and transferred the migrants.

The Celebrity Reflection, managed by Celebrity Cruises Inc., enrolled in Amver on October 23, 2012 and has earned two Amver participation awards.
