Amver participating Disney cruise ship saves migrant

The Amver participating Disney Wonder rescued a Cuban migrant from a rustic raft 21 miles south of Marathon, Fla. on Monday, March 2, 2015.

The crew of the Disney Wonder located a raft and launched a rescue boat to rescue the male survivor. Once aboard the cruise ship the survivor stated he had been fishing by himself and had been blown by the wind towards the United States.

The Bahamian flagged cruise ship rendezvoused with the Coast Guard Cutter Charles David Jr. and transferred the survivor to the Coast Guard.

The Disney Wonder, managed by Magical Cruise Company, enrolled in Amver on July 20, 1999 and has earned 16 Amver participation awards.
